- Perry Smith obtains a significant settlement on behalf of worker who was terminated for taking a disability leave.

- In approving the settlement of a class action lawsuit on behalf of thousands of employees, the court complimented Perry Smith's work, stating: "I thought that this was excellent litigating by everybody, particularly most of these papers you prepared by [Perry Smith], on plaintiffs' behalf. I admired your skill, your writing. It was a pleasure to read what you write."

- Perry Smith obtains a reversal of a trial court's denial of the class certification motion on behalf of hundreds of employees of a chain of cell phone stores. The trial court is directed to certify a class and let the matter proceed as a class action.

- Perry Smith obtains a six-figure settlement without litigation on behalf of an employee who was terminated because of absences related to a chronic illness. Smith argued that the employee had not been provided a "reasonable accommodation" for the illness, which qualified as a disability under California law.

- 2006 Los Angeles Magazine/ Super Lawyers names Perry Smith one of the top young lawyers in southern California for the second year in a row. For further information, click here. Perry Smith and his partner are approved as class counsel by the trial court in resolving the claims of more than 5400 employees and former employees who claim that they were subjected to unlawful wage and hour practices.

- Perry Smith obtains bench trial verdict on behalf of three Los Angeles employees. Having already obtained a jury verdict awarding overtime and other unpaid wages, Mr. Smith argued that his clients were also entitled to penalties for their employer s willful failure to pay them their earned wages, and that they were entitled to interest on the unpaid wages as well as restitution. The Court agreed and awarded the employees the amounts requested.

- Perry Smith obtains jury verdict on behalf of three Los Angeles employees who were subjected to their employer s policies of unlawfully deducting wages from their paychecks for violating company policies; failing to pay for so called unauthorized overtime; and for failing to pay overtime to a manager, claiming that the manager was not required to be paid overtime under California law.

2005 News
- Perry Smith obtains a jury trial verdict in a wrongful termination case, including a finding of malice and an award of punitive damages in an amount nearly seven times the amount of compensatory damages.

- 2005 Los Angeles Magazine/ Super Lawyers names Perry Smith one of the top young lawyers in southern California.

- Perry Smith is paid $50,000 by a company that sued him after he refused to turn over documents to the company. The company claimed that Smith had stolen the documents and that the company was damaged. Smith argued that he was representing an employee's interests (for free) and that he was entitled to retain the documents. Smith otbained a dismissal of the suit and an award of attorneys' fees for his and his partner's work in preparing and filing an anti-SLAPP motion.
